DAV Public School, Dehra came into existence in the year 1985 to cater to the educational needs of children living in the Dehra Sub-Division. At that time, most of the residents of this area were serving in the defence forces, and their families frequently migrated from one place to another. As a result, their wards usually studied in CBSE institutions. However, there was no CBSE-affiliated school within a radius of 50 kilometres.
To provide quality education to the children of this region, eminent educationists, philanthropists, and devoted members of the Arya Samaj took the initiative to mobilise resources with the support of generous and altruistic people. Their collective efforts led to the establishment of this institution, which became a proud chapter in the annals of DAV educational history.
The school functions under the aegis of the DAV Organisation. The guiding pillars of the institution include Arya Rattan Padam Shree Sh. Poonam Suri, President, DAV CMC; Sh. Prabodh Mahajan, Chairman; Dr.V.K Yadav, A.R.O, Dr. Bikram Singh, Manager; along with other esteemed members of the Local Managing Committee.
At present, the school is affiliated to CBSE and imparts education from Nursery to Class XII in both Medical and Non-Medical streams. Today, we feel proud to state that the long journey of the school has produced eminent scholars who are serving in various fields such as medicine, engineering, civil services, judiciary, armed forces, and higher education institutions, in both public and private sectors.
The school had a humble beginning in a local temple with just 50 students. Over the years, it has grown into a flourishing institution with a student strength of approximately 1100 supported by a well-developed infrastructure. The campus is equipped with a highly qualified and trained faculty, a rich library, science laboratories, computer lab, playground, multimedia hall, Wi-Fi campus, smart classrooms, and modern sports facilities.
The school also operates a fleet of eleven buses, plying in different directions to ensure safe and convenient transportation for students.
